A reverse-osmosis water treatment system feeding automatic washers, final rinse and steam generators in a central sterile supply department.

Water for washers and final rinse should stay below 15 µS/cm conductivity, and below 5 µS/cm for steam generators — exceeding these values causes scale and staining on instruments. Flexible endoscope reprocessing adds a microbiological limit below 10 CFU/100 ml and final filtration with pore size no greater than 0.2 µm, with regular cartridge replacement.

Configuration is matched to local water hardness: soft water needs single-stage osmosis, hard water a two-stage system. The single-tank version serves one process line, the twin-tank version a larger CSSD with several consumers.
