The Sanqiang plasma sterilizer generates low-temperature plasma inside the chamber under vacuum using a high-frequency electric field. Hydrogen peroxide acts as the medium: the resulting radicals react with microbial proteins and nucleic acids, disrupting their vital functions. After the cycle, hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water vapour and oxygen, so the load needs no aeration and returns straight to circulation.
The method is intended for items that cannot withstand saturated steam: rigid and flexible endoscopes, probes, ophthalmic lenses, fibre-optic cables, intracranial sensors, cryotherapy probes, electrocautery and resection instruments, defibrillators, and items made of metal, glass, silicone and rubber.
Typical locations are the CSSD, operating theatre, diagnostic department, university laboratories and testing institutions. Cycle parameters are logged and can be exported over USB.
The 68-litre version in a 750 mm wide cabinet suits treatment rooms, endoscopy suites and laboratories where a full-size unit does not fit but optics must be sterilized daily.
