Low-temperature formaldehyde sterilization relies on the reaction of formaldehyde solution with amino, carboxyl and sulphur groups of microbial nucleic acids and proteins, destroying their structure without corroding the load. Compared with hydrogen peroxide the method offers deeper penetration and greater process stability, and above all imposes no limit on lumen diameter or length.
The unit runs two temperature modes, 60°C and 76°C, selected according to load tolerance. A soft-bag filling technology punctures and refills the solution automatically, removing operator contact with the reagent. A built-in rapid evaporator raises the vaporisation rate, while an independent wash-and-dry function reduces residual formaldehyde below 400 µg while keeping packaging dry.
Control is handled by a Siemens PLC with PID temperature module and an 8-inch LCD touch screen. Cycle data is logged and printed for integration with hospital instrument tracking.
